Celtics Advance to Finals. Wait on
opponents

Defending champions Signman
Celtics have advance to the semi-finals after defeating MCCU
Sunrise in four sets of game 2 of the best-of-3 series. scores
in that game 26-24, 25-12, 13-25 and 25-21. Game 2 of the
semifinal match between Breakers and Strike Force is scheduled
for Tuesday 27th at Portsmouth. |

Celtics and Strike Force one win away from Finals rematch
Lime Strike Force and Sign Man Celtics seem to be on a collision course to the finals. Strike Force Joins Celtics as they win their first Semi-final matchup against Bloaters Breakers on Thursday. Playing in Pointe Michel, Strike Force defeated Breakers in four sets (25-13, 29-27, 23-25 and 25-15).
Meanwhile, Defending Women's champion Celtics had to work hard to pull off game one of their best-of-three matchup. rallying from behind (13-25 and 24-26) the chanps dug deep and came alive in the 3rd (25-17) and never looking back to take the 4th and 5th set and the game (25-22 and 15-12).

Dominica Wins Volleyball
Dominica's youth team has captured the
WINLOTTO Windward Islands inter-secondary schools volleyball title. The
annual games were played here in Dominica with the youth team winning its
three games.
In their first game of the tournament, the Dominica male volleyball team came up against one of their most competitive rivals St. Lucia. In a match which kept the crowd on the edge,
Dominica pulled off the victory winning 3 sets to 1. Scores being (25-23), (25-22), (21-25) and (25-22).
The team created an upset victory as they
took down the defending champs St. Vincent and the Grenadines 3 sets to 1
(25-15), (18-25), (26-24) and (25-19) in their second game. In their final
match over Grenada Dominica closed off the Game in straight sets (25-19), (25-19), (25-22)
Meanwhile, the female team placed second in
their leg of the competition. Scores and highlights have not yet been
submitted to the DAVA.

Mixed Results on Saturday.
The Marigot and Pointe Michel volleyball teams had mixed results in matches played in the 2011 LIME national Volleyball League on Saturday 11th June, at the Pointe Michel hardcourt.
In the Women’s Division, LIME Strike Force made light work of Marigot Cooperative Credit Union SUNRISE , trouncing the visitors in straight sets.
Scores : 25 – 17; 25 – 16; 25 - 19.
However the Men’s Division encounter was much more competitive, with the Pointe Michel LIME Wolfpack team being defeated by the visiting Marigot Cooperative Credit Union SUNRISE, in five sets, before a vocal home crowd.
After taking the first set comfortably 25 – 14, the home team then dropped the second and third sets 23 – 25 and 28 – 26. However in the fourth set, the Marigot men faltered losing it 9 – 25; only to regroup and win in the exciting final set 15 – 11.

YOUNG
VETERANS OFF TO A EARLY START.
In their
first game of the 2011 season newcomers, Waitukubuli National Trail Young
Veterans, made light work of 2010 Second Division Champions, Club Olympia of
St. Joseph in straight sets. The vets took an early 15 - 8 lead in the first
set and never looked back to win the set at 25-14. They went on to take the
second set 25 -19. Club One attempted a comeback in the third set leading by
as many as 6 points. However, they could not hold on as the vets proved to
be too much rallying to win the set 25-20. This week's games continue on
Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th June.

MARCUS BLONDEL QUALIFIES AS INTERNATIONAL REFEREE
The Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association has received confirmation from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) that Marcus Blondel has achieved the status of International Referee.
Mr. Blondel received his official FIVB International Referee Certificate, FIVB ID Card and Official International Referee Badge; and he will now be eligible to officiate in Volleyball matches at all levels - including Continental and World Championships.

DOMINICA TO PARTICIPATE IN ECVA JUNIOR MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS
A National Men’s Junior team will participate in the 2011 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Men’s Junior Volleyball Championship to be held in Anguilla from July 9th to 12th.
Players will be selected from among the students currently undergoing training in preparation for the Windward Islands Inter-Schools Tournament, who meet the FIVB age requirements. Training is being conducted by National Men’s Team captain, David Toussaint, assisted by Japanese volunteer coach Yuya SIMUDA.
Winner of the ECVA Championships will go on to represent the ECVA at the NORCECA Continental Junior Championships

Oct. 23rd - WolfPac are the 2010 LIME/DAVA National Volleyball Champs having defeated Sunrise in 4 sets to take a 2-0 series lead. Congratulations WolfPac.

Oct. 15th - The 2010 lime national volleyball league women’s division champions are
Signman Celtics.
They defeated the 2009 league champions in the third of the three-game finals on
Friday evening, in four sets: 25-23; 25-22; 18-25; 25-15.

David and
Ronny are Kings of Beach
David
Toussaint and Ronald Bruno beat all foes to emerge as kings of the Monster
Beach Volleyball Tournament at Layou. Playing in the finals, Toussaint and
Bruno, lost the first set 22-24 to Ray Robinson and Lincoln Riviere. The duo
bounced back to capture the second and third 21-15 and 17-15 respectively.
both teams will represent Dominica at the Sizzlin' Sand beach volleyball
competition in Antigua carded for November.
