STRIKEFORCE' DOMINANCE COMES TO AN END?
April 7th - In a thrilling and all-around
exciting 5-setter, LIME Strike Force of Pointe Michel squandered
a two sets to nil lead, and eventually went down to SIGNMAN
Celtics on Wednesday night, in the Women’s Division of the 2010
LIME National Volleyball League.
Trailing 2-0, the Celts took an
early 8-1 lead in the third set before allowing Strikeforce to
bounce back and equalize at 18. Another run by Celtics pushed
the lead to 22-19 and the never turned back in the set take a
25-22 point win.
Celtics encountered two scary
moments in the 4th set when first, veteran player, Jennifer
Nantan went down with a knee injury followed by Former national
player Karana Thomas with a dislocated finger. That did not
deter nor distract the Celts who took the 4th set 25-20.
The momentum was carried into the
5th set but the excellent defense of Strikeforce was no match
for the attacks of national center Marcia and Celtics walked
away with the set and the match 15-10 (3-2).
The match featured some of the
longest rallies ever to be witnessed in a Women’s match here; as
well as outstanding defensive plays by both teams. The loss
marked the first game lost by Strikeforce in almost 5 years. |
