Jan. 9 - The DAVA has appointed former national players Robert Guiste and Jeffery Edmund as coaches for the Men's Senior National Team which will be taking part in the upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifiers. The competition will be held in St. Lucia in April 2009. The appointment came after Coach Albert Loblack was forced to choose between the male and female team since both teams will be competing during the same period at different venues. The women's tournament will be held in St. Martin. In an exclusive interview with dominicavolleyball.com, coach Loblack indicated that his decision to choose the women's team  stemmed from the fact the he no longer feels that he could take the men's team any further than he already has. Loblack has been with the senior Men's national team for the past 14 years and has led them to 2 OECS titles. He expressed his willingness to again coach the men's team only if the composition of the team were to change and new, younger players were called in to replace the present squad.

In related news, the DAVA has called 20 male and 16 female players for possible selection to the National teams which will represent Dominica at the World Cup qualifiers to be held in St. Lucia and St. martin respectively. The list follows:
