March 8th - Dominica:
President of the DAVA handed over a net, antennae, balls and lines judges flags to two newly-registered teams from St. Joseph, in a brief ceremony at the St. Joseph hardcourt, on Monday 8th March. Receiving the equipment on behalf of the teams was Shern Dailey.
The St. Joseph Club has registered Men and Women teams for the 2010 LIME National Volleyball League; and the St. Joseph hardcourt will be used as one of the venues for League games in 2010.
Accompanying the DAVA President at the presentation was Marcus Blondel, a member of the DAVA Technical Committee.
Parliamentary Representative of the St. Joseph Constituency, Hon. Kelver Darroux, was also present, and made a donation of balls to the teams. Hon. Darroux encouraged the players to take the game seriously while complimenting those individuals who were responsible for establishing the club. He said that he was gratified to see that good use was being made of the new sports facility which the Government had constructed for the community.
The DAVA President addressed the group stating that he was happy, that after several years’ absence from the League, the St. Joseph community was back in the volleyball family. He recognized the efforts of former national players Anthony Scotland and Leford Prosper for making their time and talents available to coach the youth of the community.
